The NewBridge Project and Dwellbeing Shieldfield are looking for a new Youth Worker to work with the Shieldfield Youth Programme.

The NewBridge Project and Dwellbeing Shieldfield are looking for an experienced and Youth Worker who will be responsible for the ongoing delivery of meaningful youth activity for children and young people as part of the Shieldfield Youth Programme. They will work with the Youth Programme Producer to develop and plan activity that supports the learning and development of young people and creates a positive and inclusive environment for all users.

This includes getting out and about meeting young people and their families around Shieldfield, running regular sessions which include weekly activities, monthly skills workshops, trips, events and detached youth work, as well as delivering exciting projects with artists.

The Youth Worker will understand the interests of young people and will be passionate about nurturing and empowering the children and young people of Shieldfield to be leaders in the place where they live and address the issues that affect them. They will be committed to creative thinking about working alongside young people as part of the process.

The Shieldfield Youth Programme creates a space for young people to come together in the place where they live and build new friendships. It offers opportunities for them to develop their creative skills and talents, exploring new ways of thinking and doing things together in a supportive environment. It aims to empower people to become active members of the local community, is locally rooted, thematically strong, instilling values of solidarity, social and economic justice and creativity.

Young people have been at the heart of the programme since its inception and since launching in Spring 2021, the Youth Programme has grown to include over 90 young people in Shieldfield.

The Shieldfield Youth Programme at present includes:

  • Regular detached youth work.
  • Regular youth and children’s activity groups (2 sessions between 4 – 6.30pm on a Wednesday, and an hour-long session as part of our monthly ‘Saturday Social’).
  • Monthly workshops, working with an invited workshop leader (such as an artist or activist) to enable young people to learn new skills and put some of their ideas into practice.
  • Seasonal events, including field trips, residentials, ‘summer schools’ and holiday activities.


Budget £26,000 p.a. pro rata (equivalent to £10,400 actual), 2 days pw.
