Vane represents a group of critically engaged artists from the North East of England, across the UK, Europe and the USA through projects at the gallery and elsewhere. The gallery programme also provides a platform for the work of invited artists at all career stages and from different backgrounds, often working in partnership with other regional, national, and international partners, including hosting projects developed by artists themselves.

Beyond the gallery, Vane has presented projects across the UK and internationally, including in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA.
