Sunderland

Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens presents the story of Sunderland alongside acclaimed art exhibitions and tropical Winter Gardens, all under one roof.
With a collection dating back to 1846, Sunderland’s fascinating history is explored across four floors, with spaces dedicated to shipbuilding, coal mining, glass making and pottery, as well as many other aspects of the city’s past.
The Art Gallery shows a significant collection of the works of LS Lowry, an artist who spent lots of time in Sunderland, as part of its permanent collection, while also featuring regularly-changing temporary exhibitions. An events programme means that there is always something new and exciting to see and do for all the family.
