RePUBlic Gallery

Northumberland

The RePUBlic Gallery is an art gallery and community space based on the ground floor of the former Kings Head public house in the centre of Blyth, Northumberland.

Our aim is to encourage and increase real engagement with high quality, contemporary art and design in Blyth and Northumberland.

The rich history of the building and its social and cultural significance within the town informs a programme of exhibitions that is responsive to and supportive of local engagement: a place to inspire and energise creativity.

Alongside the gallery the republic also organises a series of travelling window boxes at different venues which are rotated every 4 – 6 weeks allowing the artist different audiences, and casual engagement with art by passers by. They also direct people to different venues, not necessarily arts and cultural venues.

The gallery runs regular open calls for artists to exhibit in the windows, and welcomes proposals from artists, community groups and businesses to borrow, hire and fill the gallery space with exciting projects.
