Set up in 2004, Chilli Studios is a registered charity that delivers services to those who are, or are at risk of experiencing diagnosed mental health problems, and those who experience other forms of social exclusion within their communities.

Chilli Studios engages people in creative workshops and related activity with the aim of promoting social inclusion and interaction, developing skills and ability which builds resilience, enables potential and improves wellbeing.

The organisation values the power of creativity to empower individuals to challenge internal and external perceptions of mental health. It values everyone’s unique personal expression and inspires people to take creative chances, build skills and celebrate achievements.

Heads & Tales was a two-year research and engagement project culminating in a new heritage archive for the North East: exploring, rebalancing and celebrating the voice of adults experiencing mental health condition.
