Borderlands is a creative engagement programme for Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland. Part of Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places (CPP) programme, it aims to increase the number of people choosing, creating and taking part in brilliant creative experiences.

The environment, heritage and place are key themes for the Borderlands programme. It embeds principles of climate care, circular economies (local talent, local organisations and suppliers) and local knowledge and wisdom at the centre of its activities.

Committed to being curious, caring and compassionate, Borderlands showcases and celebrates local places and people, supporting participants to dream and reimagine a better legacy for the place in which they live and work.

Borderlands is initially a four-year programme which has a ten-year vision of community engagement, co-curation, and co-production of creative and cultural experiences led by communities across Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland.
