36 Lime Street

Newcastle & Gateshead

36 Lime Street is situated in the heart of Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley to the east of the city centre. Located in a Grade II listed building, it is home to over 50 creative practitioners ranging from visual artists and designer makers, through to architects and musicians.

As a charitable organisation, 36 Lime Street runs the oldest and one of the largest studio groups in the North East. Alongside providing affordable studios, its gallery plays host to a wide-ranging programme of exhibitions, workshops and community events.

Through the organisation’s activity, it contributes towards the regeneration of the building and the area. 36 Gallery provides a platform for emerging and established artists and curators to experiment, test and take risks. Eight proposals a year are selected from an open call by a committee of members of 36 Lime Street studios.
