Shoreside Huts
Residencies will take place during winter 2023-24 and will consist of four five-day stays for artists from any creative discipline or background. The purpose is to bring a diverse and varied mix of creative people to our huts and community, infusing Northumberland with fresh perspectives and offering the residents a unique opportunity to experience and be inspired by the North East coast.
Shoreside Huts, run by the Old School Gallery, Alnmouth, are beautifully situated right on the coastline with unrivalled views of the North Sea. Surrounded by nature, they offer an idyllic setting for stepping back from the day-to-day and enjoying the peace and tranquility of a remote location. If you need a few days to reflect on a project or focus on a piece of work, this might be the opportunity to do just that. Although the residency is in winter, you will have the perfect bolthole to develop your practice. Our beach huts are well insulated and have a log burner to keep you toasty warm.
You’ll be with us from Monday to Friday, courtesy of the funds received from Creative UK. While there is no expectation to make or produce a piece of work during that time, you will be invited to share your ideas and practice at an event in Alnmouth for residents and other creatives to hear about what you do.
