This opportunity is open to creatives that can easily access the space, so priority is given to those living in Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding area.
Hypha Studios is particularly interested in creatives who are able to access the space easily, cannot afford exhibition space, or would see this opportunity to test the commercial viability of their creative practice to help them reach the next stage of their career. The organisation will prioritise those that cannot normally afford project space, or have lost their own site due to the cost of living crisis/ funding being withdrawn.
Hypha Studios is committed to supporting creatives and communities most in need, and will prioritise creatives who declare they are struggling — whether financially, mentally or physically.
There are two units: 21 Segedunum Way, (105 sq m/ 1130 sq ft) and 12 the Forum (142 sq m / 1528 sq ft).
Hypha Studios is an organisation led by artists and curators with an extensive network of art industry professionals, with years of curatorial expertise. We have a considered matchmaking process for each property and artist that we work with, selecting the best creative projects for the space, whether it is large or small, short or long term.
We are proud to support the cultural sector with more than £1.6m worth of free space at a time gallery closures, and funding cuts to the arts, which then not only impacts the lives and careers of the artist work with, but our free events engage local communities across the country.
