Borderlands
Our Freelance Producers will work with Borderlands’ Creative Producer to deliver the programme.
Borderlands is commissioning and supporting diverse organisations and individuals to co-create arts projects in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland between October 2023 and March 2024. The Freelance Producers will assist the Creative Producer to deliver a range of partnership projects.
There are a range of projects for which we are looking for Freelance Producers to support. These include:
Black Path — Multi-partner project consulting & co-creating with South Bank and Grangetown communities to realise a new artwork/experience connected to/inspired by the Black Path Arts Trail
My Boro My Shirt — A project with Eston Arts Centre and Fly Me to the Moon (Middlesbrough FC Fanzine) regenerating a community green space through creative activity
Community Commissions — mid-scale, one-off activities supporting communities to get involved for the first time in, or raise artistic ambitions via, new creative experiences
Canny Bash & Festival of Possibilities — large-scale, mass participation opportunities for participants and audiences in Middlesbrough & Redcar and Cleveland
Go & See Trips – a series of visits to see inspirational creative events/activity close to home and across the UK, co-commissioned by South Tees communities
Sheroes – exhibition of photographic portraits of inspirational female activists in South Tees at venues across the area and connected to local and international awareness days
New partnerships including:
Flower Patch CIC — pilot project in garden design to consult & learn about community vision for a wellbeing garden and artwork(s)/experiences
Public Health — connecting isolated people aged over 50 with creative activity
Little Cog — disability training & pilot performance project

Job Requirements
Essential Criteria
Previous experience of producing high quality, co-created arts and cultural projects
Previous experience of community engagement in creative projects
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
Excellent ability to maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
Experience of budget management
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Excellent IT skills
Based in the North East with ability to travel within Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland
Desirable
Experience working with volunteers in cultural sector
Experience of data collection and evaluation
Based in Teesside or surrounding area
We are interested in applications from early career and established producers.
Work with the Creative Producer to plan for and report on project activity
Project manage an agreed number of projects, to be negotiated with the Creative Producer
Work with Community Engagement Coordinators to engage communities in all aspects of project delivery & decision making
Provide project administration including data & evaluation collection
Act as key point of contact for stakeholders in assigned projects
Communicate effectively with partners, artists, community groups and Borderlands team
Other duties as required and relevant to the role, to be agreed with Borderlands Creative Producer and Director
