Collections Assistant

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is looking to recruit someone who can champion collections care and preventative conservation whilst developing access to the museum’s extensive collection.

The successful candidate will join the team at Preston Park Museum & Grounds at an exciting moment as we embark on a major capital development. We are preparing to transform the visitor experience, enhance engagement with our collections and welcoming major exhibitions to our region.

The opportunity has been created for an enthusiastic and well-organised individual who can demonstrate flexibility to deliver on a variety of tasks. You will help to maintain high standards of collections care, including documentation, conservation, and environmental monitoring. You will also promote access to the collection by supporting the wider museum team with exhibitions and displays as well as events and activities for the public. In addition to this you will assist with the Government Levelling Up funded site redevelopment, which will see the opening of a new extension to the museum, housing open and visible stores and a large exhibition hall.

Experience of working with museum collections and an enthusiasm for delivering to a diverse audience is essential to this role.

We offer an excellent total reward package including a competitive salary, generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement as well as access to a number of additional employee benefits and a wide range of learning and development opportunities.
