Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust wants to commission an artist to enhance the new Berwick Community Hospital with a mobile sculpture to hang in the atrium near the reception and main entrance.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are investing £35 million to build a new state-of-the-art hospital in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The new community hospital will be located on the site of Berwick Infirmary and is due to open during the summer of 2025. It will provide the people of Berwick and surrounding areas with high-quality community hospital healthcare services which will significantly improve the patient and staff experience.

Aims
As part of this development, there are plans to further enhance this building with a mobile sculpture to hang in the atrium near the reception and main entrance.

The aims of this artwork will be to:

  • Champion art as a key aspect of the healing environment
  • Create a sense of welcome and improve the experience for staff, patients, and visitors entering the hospital.
  • Support wellbeing
  • Have a connection to Berwick

The project is funded and supported by Northumbria Healthcare’s Bright charity.

 

Budget £40 – £45,000 fee
