Queen’s Hall commissioned Songwriter Jennie Brewis to create a song for Hexham. Between April and July 2023, she worked in collaboration with field recordists and sound artists on a series of workshops with the people of Hexham and surrounding areas.

Using the voices of local people and the sounds of nature and the environment, It’s Home isn’t it? intersperses reminiscences and personal narratives with found sounds and choral voices to create a song that captures the atmosphere of Hexham.

The commissioned artist will be selected by a panel of representatives from Queen’s Hall, the artist and the local creative community.
