What Are Words Worth? Performance, film and poetry

5 – 7pm

Gallery North

An evening of performance, film and poetry in connection with the exhibition 'What Are Words Worth?'

A performance by Lesley Guy and Tom O’Sullivan of a distributed reading from their publication Codex is followed by a first screening of Kate Liston’s film Sinkhole, drawing on her research responding to archive and oral histories of Tyneside Cinema, which she began through a commission in 2022.

Back at Gallery North, from 6pm, performances follow by Lesley Guy, incorporating her installation Breakfast Summoning and poetry readings from Jo Clemment; and Madelaine Culver, launching her debut poetry pamphlet, The Second Dream, which includes a sequence of cut-up poems made from language found in reviews of the film accompanied by ekphrastic visual pieces created in response to its sound design and musical score.

Please meet at Gallery North at 5pm.

Please note that this event will require some walking and will take place whatever the weather in surprising and unannounced locations across the Northumbria University campus.
