Arts Centre Washington

'Washington: Fact, Fiction and Folklore' is a new arts project to celebrate Washington’s past, both real and mythical, to celebrate 60 years of Washington as a New Town.

Taking inspiration for the book of the same name by Fred Hill, the local historian and schoolmaster who played a key role in saving Washington Old Hall, an open call went out to creative writers and historians to submit new stories about Washington’s past.

Now visual artists have taken inspiration from these stories, and their work is displayed in this exhibition and printed in a book to celebrate Washington 60 – celebrating 60 years of Washington New Town.
