‘Voicing Objects’ workshop

2 – 4pm

Great North Museum: Hancock

Women* are invited to take part in a workshop as part of 'Voicing Objects' at the Great North Museum: Hancock.

The workshop, led by Pippa Anderson, a vocal health specialist and voice coach, involves breathwork, voicework and self-care. It is supported by artist Olivia Turner and classical archaeologist Sally Waite.

The objects on display as part of Voicing Objects, from the Shefton Collection of Greek Art and Archaeology, relate to the lives of women in the ancient world, bringing voice to historically marginalised stories.

Just as the display summons an embodied approach to use artefacts to think, feel, imagine, and voice with, so the workshop explores the role objects have within history to promote and challenge patriarchal constructions.

Adults of all abilities are welcome. The event is wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, there is no capacity for children. Refreshments will be provided.

*a fully inclusive understanding of individuals defining as women, non-binary, intersex and people outside of gender categorisation.
