Workplace | Workplace Foundation

A solo exhibition of new paintings by New York-based artist Sarah Schlesinger.

Often working on a small scale, Schlesinger (b. 1988) paints obstructed landscapes. Blocked by objects, such as bushes and other obfuscations, she creates scenes that are filled with metaphor and mystery, exploring the psychology of looking. Using a monochromatic palette, Schlesinger works on panel are an investigation of colour and form.

Schlesinger received her BFA from Taylor University in 2010, before graduating with an MFA from New York Academy of Art in 2015. She is a recipient of a 2015 Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, and the 2015-2016 Chubb Postgraduate Fellowship at New York Academy of Art. Schlesinger’s work has been exhibited in New York, Miami, Oslo, Brussels and Mexico City among others.
