Queen’s Hall Photo Open

Mon – Sat, 10am – 4pm

Queen’s Hall Arts Centre

An exhibition that celebrates the creativity and diversity of photographers and artists across the North East.

This showcase is dedicated to the square-format photograph — a unique and challenging medium that encourages artists to think differently about composition and storytelling.

The Queen’s Hall Photo Open does not confine itself to a specific theme, allowing creative freedom to flourish within the bounds of a square frame. It was open to work from experienced professionals through to enthusiastic beginners. It is a platform for all to display their work, offering a snapshot of the artistic practices that thrive in our region.

This call was open to all North East based photographers and artists, embracing individuals from any background, nationality, age, or career stage. Queen’s Hall Arts Centre encouraged submissions that not only demonstrate technical skill and creative use of the square format but also reflect the rich cultural narratives and personal experiences of artists from this region.

The works are displayed in a large photo grid layout that emphasises both the individuality of each piece and the collective impact of the community. This arrangement allows for an engaging dialogue among the artworks, inviting visitors to explore a collection of images that together tell the story of our region’s creativity.
