Project Art Works: Terrains of Care

6.30 – 8.30pm

Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art

What is the role of cultural institutions in solving society's problems? Join Project Art Works and representatives from the Reina Sofia Museum, Madrid, to discuss the intersections between art and care, and how cultural institutions can contribute to solving society's problems.

Terrains of Care explores the intersections between art and care in Spain and the UK through artistic practices that operate in the converging terrains of complex care needs, disability and neurodivergence. Examining and challenging conventional notions of care, the discussion looks at the nexus between communities and social systems of care, which simultaneously enable and disable people.

For this event, members of Project Art Works are joined by Reina Sofia Museum, Madrid, Baltic, artist Claire White and Baltic Professor Andrea Phillips (Northumbria University).
