Newcastle Arts Centre is proud to partner with The North of England Art Club each year to present The Northern Summer Exhibition. The Art Club took residence in NAC’s upstairs studios in 2011, equipping and providing space for its members to create work and develop their practice, as well as hosting weekly classes and lectures. To promote and enable the scale of the exhibition, each year Art Club members provide support to the selection, curation, and installation of the show.

Since its debut in 2023, the Northern Summer Exhibition has expanded and drawn in new artists every year, strengthening the network of practicing artists at home in the North. This year the exhibition presents more pieces than ever before, showcasing 130 artworks.

Each year 3 Best In Show Titles are awarded. For 2026 the Judge’s Best in Show winner as Geoff Hudson’s Where The Light Remembers Us, and North of England Art Club’s Best In Show as Self portrait in a black beret by Viktoria Riasnianska. Visitors to the exhibition can vote for the Audience Best In Show which will be announced after its close. All winners receive gift vouchers for Details, NAC’s art materials shop.
