Noctalgia: Dark Skies Matter

Fri, Mon, 10am – 5pm; Sat – Sun, 10am – 7pm

Opening event 22 March, 6 – 7.30pm

A sculpture highlighting the plants and animals in Northumberland National Park and Kielder Water & Forest Park international dark sky park, and the constellations and celestial events that animate the skies above them.

Artist Bethan Maddocks created Noctalgia in collaboration with community groups and visitors through creative activities and workshops.

This sculpture of shadows and light is part of Wild Intrigue’s Ouseburn Dark Skies, a long weekend (22nd-25th March) celebrating nocturnal wildlife and exploring ways to restore and protect our dark skies for wildlife and people. The full Ouseburn Dark Skies programme is available here.

Noctalgia was commissioned by Northumberland National Park Authority  with support from the Sir James Knott Trust.
