The Auxiliary

Measure asks a seemingly simple question: what counts? The paradox of measurement is that to make something known it must be countable, but things that are difficult to count are the things that tend to go uncounted. What we notice and value is central to how we live.

From the quantifiable to the ineffable, what the assembled exhibits, performances, screenings and talks in Measure share above all, is that they are all points of departure, not points of arrival. If the cynic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing, how do we measure better?

With work from the North East Film Archive and by Tony Charles, Rachael Clewlow, Abbey Corbin, Ken Friedman, Tehching Hsieh, Jo Lathwood, Sarah Maple, Mike Nelson, Glen Ogden, Zbigniew Rybczynski, Saeborg and David Shrigley.
