Marc Parrett’s The Ballad of the Underwater Daughter

6 – 10.30pm

Newcastle Arts Centre

The Late Shows 2024

Bodged together out of mangled metal and broken dreams, dad island is a flawed coping mechanism that barely manages to hold itself together. Then one stormy night, a tiny barnacle encrusted bottle floats into the harbour with a crumpled note inside which reads, ‘remember me?’

The Ballad of the Underwater Daughter is a woozy universe of messy minds and monstrously fishy metaphors, and overloaded with puppets, props and machines. It doubles as an animated installation outside of performance times.

For The Late Shows, free walk-up performances (20 mins) will take place at 7pm and 7.45pm. A longer, ticketed performance follows at 8.30pm (75 mins; tickets £5 — book in advance).

Open to ages 14+ only.
