Mark Pinder: Macromancy

The Lit & Phil

North East-based documentary photographer Mark Pinder discusses his work in conversation with Dr Alistair Robinson (Newcastle University).

Discussing the book and exhibition project he has recently completed with the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland and the German art publisher Kerber, Mark Pinder discusses his long term exploration of the changing social, political and economic dynamics of our region since Margaret Thatcher came to power with Dr Alistair Robinson, a lecturer in Curating Art at Newcastle University.

He has been a curator for 25 years, at venues including Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, the photography collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television. For Macromancy, he contributed an essay titled ‘Who are you going to believe – me or your own eyes? Or, how to tell an alternative history of modern Britain’.
