Last Orders! Historic & Lost Pubs of Middlesbrough

Thu – Sat, 11am – 4pm

The Masham

Middlesbrough has long been associated with a vibrant pub culture from the modern town’s early development through to recent decades. The town’s watering holes have made an impressive contribution to the area’s architectural landscape and have featured prominently in the area’s social history.

Last Orders! features photographs and archival material from the Les Bulman Collection and Teesside Archives, highlighting some of the town’s early pubs. With a focus on the area around the Historic Quarter and the former St Hilda’s or ‘over the border’ area of the town, exhibits include architectural and lost gems including The Captain Cook, Star & Garter Hotel, The Ship Inn and Brunswick Hotel, among others.

This exhibition and associated events programme are part of a collaborative project between Navigator North, Heritage Unlocked, Teesside Archives, volunteers and local historians. Its first day coincides with Discover Middlesbrough.
