Incursions Walking Forum: November

12 – 2pm

Farrell Centre

Join collaborative artist-led walking project Incursions, in collaboration with Farrell Centre, for a series of monthly walks in the urban environment!

Each walk begins at Farrell Centre and will last roughly 2 hours. We will return to the centre for informal conversation, a cup of tea and the opportunity to explore the centre.

Incursions is a collaborative walking project based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, facilitated by Archie Smith and Kitty McKay. Through practices of psychogeography, social engagement, collective research, mapping, and friendship, they work to shift dominant neoliberal narratives of space and place, co-authoring ‘counter-narratives’ for how we inhabit civic worlds and build active solidarities.

Focusing on the effects of geography on the collective – or the effects of the city on the social – Incursions and Farrell Centre invite participants on a walk around Newcastle, encountering overlooked sites and lesser-known histories.

This walk will explore collective group walking inviting participants to tell their stories of the city. Working together to build a subjective, or affective, map of Newcastle built upon shared stories and knowledges.
