1 – 3pm
Clayton Street, beside Eldon Square entrance
This walk and its counterpart on Sunday 18 February is an opportunity to document, draw, photograph and collect debris which will be combined and exhibited on location at a later date. Participants will learn more about the plans for placemaking ‘Creative & Cultural Zone’ project Creative Central:NCL, exploring its potentials, politics and problems, and consider the effects on artist communities and the people of Newcastle more broadly. Craft materials will be provided.
Presented in collaboration with Dan Goodman and @dearesthaleyx as part of NE1 4 NE1, a project centred around bringing creativity to the streets of Newcastle. Dan and Haley will be working with the community to produce posters from material gathered through Incursions’ walks, which will be wheat-pasted across the Creative & Cultural Zone. After the temporary installation is completed, a zine will be released collating all of the submitted work and images and distributed across the NE1 postcode.
Clayton Street will be busy, but we will embrace this in our creative documentation of it. No members of the council will be present on this walk.
A small amount of money is available for travel bursaries: please get in touch to find out more.
