Arts Centre Washington

A look back at the Miners' Strike of 1984-5 as part of a curated programme of talks alongside archive films and heritage themed documentaries.

Which Side Are You On?
Ken Loach UK 1985 53′

Named after the iconic protest song, Ken Loach’s rarely seen documentary explores the experiences of the miners and their families through the poems and songs they wrote during the Miners’ Strike of 1984-85. Interspersed by interviews and footage from Orgreave, the film was made to counter what Loach saw as the anti-union position of the mainstream media.

Arts Centre Washington’s Film Programme is supported by Film Hub North with National Lottery funding on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network.
