A photography exhibition uncovering the deep sense of identity and community forged through a shared love of a football team.

Photographer Hazel Plater has spent many hours walking the streets with her camera around Newcastle’s St James’ Park football stadium and selected other locations. Sometimes met with bemusement, other times unbridled joy, the resulting photo exhibition features compelling crowd, group and individual environmental portraits of football fans, both candid and engaged, uncovering the deep sense of identity and community forged through a shared love of a football team.

This exhibition of 16 framed prints selected from photographs Hazel made for the project in 2022-24 is touring the local area, starting at Battle Hill library.
