DIY Digital: Video Editing for Narrative with Fergus Carmichael

5.45 – 8pm

The NewBridge Project

This DIY Digital workshop explores technical and methodological ways to approach narrative in video editing.

Beginning post-production on a new moving image project often feels very overwhelming, even when meticulously planned. This workshop should provide a solid foundation for approaching material, whether it be archival, fiction or documentary.

Using footage from artist Fergus Carmichael’s past documentary projects, participants will learn how to extract and build interest from what may initially be perceived as mundane or unusable material.

This workshop is taught using the editing software DaVinci Resolve, but skills and approaches will be applicable across any NLE (non-linear editing) programmes.
