Behind the Mask

Tue, 1 – 9pm; Wed, 9am – 5pm; Thu, 9am – 9pm; Fri – Sat, 9am – 4pm

Arts Centre Washington

Behind the Mask features works by autistic artists who explore the concept of 'masking'.

The artists use a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography and found objects to express their experiences of masking and, more importantly, what is behind their mask — their true self.

Behind the Mask aims to raise awareness of the challenges of masking and to celebrate the creativity and resilience of autistic artists. It is also hoped that the show will help to challenge stereotypes about autism and to promote acceptance of autistic people.

Please note that this exhibition takes place in The Granary. This venue is also used for other events during the week during which time it may not be possible to view the exhibition.  If you are making a trip specifically to see the exhibition please call or e-mail ahead to check.
