Assemblage II: Time and Space, organised in collaboration with the Cultural Negotiation of Science Research Group (CNoS), the BxNU Institute (BxNU) and Vane, is part of a series of gatherings on contemporary art at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne. The programme includes artistic and research presentations, film screenings, talks, panel discussions, exhibitions, and workshops by NU faculty, visiting artists and scholars that extend the Department of Art’s pedagogic objectives and initiate new internal and external collaborations. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, highlighting BIPOC, LGBTIQ+, and disabled and neurodiverse perspectives from the North East of England and beyond, as well as challenging dominant art historical narratives and approaches to visual culture, and engaging with transnational non-Western perspectives.
