Art + Social No. 18: Towards New Worlds Launch Party

5 – 7.30pm

Relaxed preview, 4 – 5pm

MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art)

A special edition of MIMA's Art + Social as it celebrates the launch of 'Towards New Worlds', a large-scale exhibition sharing 15 artists’ experiences of seeing, hearing, feeling and sensing the world.

Towards New Worlds explores a rich variety of human perceptions and sensory experiences through works of art, which make connections between the artists’ internal worlds and their external environments. The artworks consider contemporary issues including justice, ecological consciousness, connectivity and care.

Each of the artists involved is disabled, D/deaf and/or neurodivergent. The artists interpret their own perspectives, offering new insights for those encountering their work while recognising that we can never fully inhabit someone else’s experience.

MIMA’s Art + Social programme is an opportunity to meet and chat with artists and creatives from the Tees Valley and further afield about their latest projects.

Complimentary drinks served from MIMA Kitchen followed by paid bar. Please contact MIMA with any specific access requirements.
