An Appreciation for the North East

Thu – Sat, 12 – 5pm

Opening party 2 February, 4 – 10.30pm

Newcastle Contemporary Art

A community-led pop-up exhibition highlighting music, creative and nightlife/rave culture in the North East and UK, curated by Big Beat Manifesto working in collaboration with some of Newcastle’s biggest music events Big Fat Rave, Shy Bairns, Alleywrks, Wheel Up, Granville Collective, Energy Cru and Raw Cuts.

The exhibition celebrates the creative scene which is being negatively impacted by the current economic and political crisis in the UK — in particular nightclubs and grassroots music venues. Through the lens of photographers and videographers who have been documenting these inclusive communities, An Appreciation for the North East brings them together to support and promote both the events and the artists that document them.

The exhibition will also be available online at where all work as well as merch (clothing, jewellery etc) from the artists and events will be available to purchase, to directly support the individuals involved.

The exhibition will feature work by Adam Reich, 3flavours, Young Villain, Leo Merryfield, Cicely Grace, Tia, Tom Hewitt,  Jacob Weston,  Aaron Wyld, Izzy Gibson Smith and more.
