A black and white photograph of an artwork consisting of metal screen with a hole in it where a mouth protrudes. A metal bit is held in the mouth, attached to the screen by a chain. Hands reach either side of the mouth, touching the metal.

Jesse Howarth

Newcastle & Gateshead

Jesse is an artist and writer, working across performance, sculpture, moving image and text.

Jesse’s work is situated in the slippery spaces in between what we expect from objects, bodies, stories and institutions.

She is currently working on a series of performances linking queer photography and equestrian practices as a way of thinking about queer bodies: how they are disciplined, desired, displayed, handled and set loose.

Jesse is a studio holder and staff member at The NewBridge Project.
